Akito Hayama (usually referred to as Hayama)
is my FAVORITE character out of the whole story. His character sort of changes throughout the whole story. In the beginning, he is a rebellious, troublemaking head bully in Sana's sixth grade class. He was known as the "boss monkey" by Sana. But as the story goes on to talk about his family background, Sana discovered that Akito's behavior was the result of the way his family treated him. His sister, Natsumi, called him the "Devil's child (Akuma no ko)." His dad rarely asks or talk about/to Akito. Their family's cold treatment was mainly because Akito's mom died when she gave birth to Akito. They blamed Akito's birth for Akito's mom's death. But through Sana's interference in their family life, their attitude toward Akito changed. (If you want to know how, watch the series! It's super exciting!) From this, Akito didn't make trouble in class any more (although there was a blackmail from Sana ^_^) And it was because of this, Akito fell in love with Sana. His personality throughout the whole series is pretty cold and cool on the outside, he doesn't really show/say how he really feel all the time. But inside, he actually cares a lot about others, especially to Sana!
Sana Kurata is the other of my FAVORITE character. She is a child celebrity that was trained at the Komawari Theater since she was small. She features a TV show called "Kodomo no Omocha," drama, and various commercials. There was couple of episode that talked about her past (very sad >_<) where she was actually adopted by her mother now. Her real birth mother abandoned her at a park because she was too young to raise a baby. (I won't go into details in how they met and stuff. But you get the idea.) I really like her becuase she is always very cheerful and no matter what type of person the other is, she would always help them when they need help. In one episode, she even helped her mama's ex-husband with repaying debts even though he is a Gold Digger. This is probably why she still helped Akito with his family when he is so mean to her. I love her endurance, ambition, and high-level energy all the time. Although sometimes she doesn't really have a lot of common sense, but that's what makes her character SO interesting! I just LOVE her raps and songs.
Tsuyoshi Sa saki (Ooki-before his parents' divorce) is Akito's buddy (although in a couple of episodes in the beginning, they claimed to be rivals because they both liked Sana). He is a very honest and kind boy. His thoughts are more simple like a regular 6th grader unlike Akito (who was mentioned throughout the series couple times that he doesn't think or have the eyes of an elementry school kid). One very weird habit Tsuyoshi has is that he would fall in love with other girls if they were to give him presents. That was how he fell in love with Sana in the beginning. But after Ayachan's love confession in front of the whole class to Tsuyoshi and her present (home-made cookies) to him on Tsuyoshi's 12th birthday, Tsuyoshi fell in love with Ayachan. Let's hope he would change his habit of liking whoever gave him presents.^_^ Another weird thing about Tsuyoshi is that he would turn crazy whenever he gets really mad and would throw desk around or beat people up (inherited from his dad). The only way to stop him is Akito's hand chop.
Ayachan is Tsuyoshi's "girlfriend". She is a very quiet (I was really surprised by her loud love confession to Tsuyoshi kun in front of the whole class!) and kind girl. Her personality match Tsuyoshi a lot, I think they're a very CUTE couple! (Although I like Akito and Sana better ^.^) Ayachan is also one of Sana's best school buddies. She ends up going to the same junior high school as Sana.
Naozumi Kamura is Akito's love rival throughout the whole series. He is also and orphan abandoned by his parents. He admired Sana ever since he was very young. So he also became a celebrity (very popular with girls because he is suppose to be very cute, although I do not think so, I think Hayama is better looking). He likes to play the trumpet whenever he's sad. I respect him alot for the fact that he's so willing to give up everything for Sana. In one episode, he released the news of him being an orphan too just to get the media from troubling and bothering Sana. (As you know, news of a celebrity as an orphan that nobody knew about earlier is VERY big news for the media.) He is not sneaky or anything, a very nice boy indeed, but I just think he doesn't match Sana. If Miyachan (another celebrity that worked with Sana on a performance on the song "Vitamin Love", my favorite song, their group was known as "Shoulokutai") was willing to change her bossy attitude, I think her and Naozumi would make a cute couple!
Misako Kurata is Sana's mom who is an Aoki Award winner as a writer. Ever since her young, foolish marriage with her ex-husband, she started acting weird and put on crazy hair-do's. She owns a small pet squirrel named Maruchan that lives on her head. (It doesn't go to bathroom on her head, it would go by the bushes and finish its business there--as the episode said when she met Akito Hayama for the first time.) She is a very interesting and loving mom despite her weirdness. There was a very touching episode of her love for Sana that brought me to tears! >_<
(Don't know his name)Misako's ex-husband is the type of person where you would call "gold digger". He always goes to Sana's house and ask her or Misako for money no matter how many times he's rejected. "Okane choodai" is his favorite phrase. ^_^ I don'tknow, but there may be a nice side of him that I don't really know. Because in one episode (the one that he made Sana repay debts for him), he actually seemed like a pretty nice guy. But then again, he still always ask Sana for money. What a cheap guy.
Rei Sagami is Sana's manager, previous "pimp" (for details, watch episode 8-11). He has a girlfriend that's also a celebrity named Asako. He wears a sunglasses all the time because Sana would not let him take it off, but he looks normal without it, it's not like he has a deformity or whatever. He has a fear for Hayama because of his glare at him all the time. But by all means, Rei is a superb manager and cares a lot for Sana. Mainly because Sana saved him from poverty and homeless (because of his own stupidity) by hiring him as a manager and let him live at their house.
Fuyuki Hayama is Akito's Dad. His personality is actually a lot like Akito, both very expressionless and man-of-few-words. But I came to discover that he fell in love with a very cheerful and outgoing wife that seem to resemble Sana. May be that's why Akito likes Sana in a sense??? Like father, like son??? ^.^ But Mr. Hayama is actually pretty weird too. In one episode, he actually talked to the TV Sana all by himself. He seems to like Sana a lot and actually suggested that it would be good if Sana was to marry Akito. ^.^ I would be happy too!!!!
Mrs. Hayama is Akito's mom, although she didn't appear much in the series, I jsut like to mention her here. Her personality is a lot like Sana. They both are very cheerful, full of enegy all the time and say a lot of weird things that makes you laugh. You can understand this in greater detail in the episode that Hayama and Sana went with his family to visit his mother's grave.
Natsumi Hayama is Akito's older high school sister. She seems to have a bad temper but at the same time could be very cheerful sometimes. She is the "normal" member in the family, at least she has more different expressionis than Akito and Mr. Hayama. I guess she inhertied more of her mother's genes. It would be nice if the series talks about her love story for an episode or two! ^.^
Zenjiro San is Sana's teacher in the TV series "Kodomo no Omocha". He is a very funny guy that runs into trouble all the time. He was blamed as kidnapper by mistake in one episode, another was of him kept on having NG's during commerical filming, another was of him having a disastrous christmas date with the ugly teacher. >.< Poor Zenjirosan! He is a man with a kind heart though.
Fuuka Matsui is a character that appears later on in the second part of the series when Hayama and Sana went to junior high school. Shocking news! It turned out that Hayama had also stolen Fuuka's first kiss in kindergarten!!!!! What would she do if she sees him? (Watch the series and you'll find out! ^.<) But I would tell you that later on, she would change her mind about Hayama and fall in love with him. (See, Hayama is not bad of a guy after all ^.^) OOOOOOOOOhh!!! Sana's love rival and yet she is her best friend, what would she do????? Another love triangle has formed! But of course, in the end, Hayama and Sana always belong to each other ( Or else, I would've really hated this anime, heeheehee ^_^)
Babbito is the cute (but irritating?) white bat that is the anime's side narrator. He likes to make side remarks about the stupidity of the characters; Hayama usually close his mouth with his hand chop ^.^. Babbito seems to like to eat ice-cream a lot!
